Completely random post here, as I found this site via GoogleFu using the ingredients of a drink I think I've invented based on gin and limoncello. I may try the homemade limoncello method, by the way, as I find the bottled stuff a little too sweet for my taste.

This drink, which I devised on a whim and serve as a pre-dinner cocktail and warm weather cooler, I call this the Corolla, as it's an accelerator subject to recalls.

The Corolla (serves 4)

In a large cocktail shaker, stir

8 oz. dry London Gin
4 oz. Limoncello

Both liquors should preferably have come from the freezer.

Add four heavy dashes of bitters, Angoustura or Orange.

Add juice of one lime.

Stir and serve into tall glasses with three or four ice cubes and top with good quality ginger ale (Canada Dry or Vernor's) or ginger beer for piquancy. Garnish with lime wedges.

We also serve this as a sundowner on our boat, where it rivals my Dark 'n' Stormies for popularity.

Well, talk about timely. My wife just brought home a bottle of Limoncello (i.e. NOT homemade), brandished it at me and said, "here make something with this."
She meant use it to make Sidecars, as we were taught by one of the bartenders I profiled on my blog, (#1, Todd). But I tire of Sidecars pretty fast, and it's a big bottle. So I went searching for something new....
I looked around the web and found nothing that looked good to me. I had backshelved the project, and low and behold I find this simple little beauty appearing on a blog I regularly read! I'm trying it tonight. Thanks.
